In order to donate blood you need to be a
volunteer who is 17 years of age or older who is in general good health, weighs
at least 110 pounds, and has a photo ID. There
is no upper age limit. You do not
need to know your blood type to donate, but once you donate you will be sent a
card showing what it is. Be sure to try to eat a substantial meal before
donating and drink plenty of fluids! For

- Camp Brave Heart - July 25-28.
Emerald Coast Hospice is offering a camp for children this summer.
Camp Brave Heart is designed for children age 7-14 who have experienced the
loss of a loved one. Regardless of the type of loss or the reason for
the loss, all children are invited to apply to attend Camp Brave
Heart. In addition to therapeutic groups and activities, the children
will participate in indoor and outdoor activities such as arts and crafts,
boating, tubing, swimming, canoeing and field games. The camp is held
at Camp Timpoochee in Niceville, July 25-28. Transportation is

- Red Cross Swimming Program - The Red
Cross has a swimming program for all ages and skill levels. To learn
more about water safety and how to enroll in a Learning-To-Swim class,
contact the Northwest Florida Chapter at 892-6297 or www.northwestflorida.redcross.org.

- Summer Drama Program, Children's Intensive
Study Theater Workshop, Age 6-13 - June 9-July 3, 9:00am-1:00pm.
Mattie Kelly Arts Center, OWC, Niceville. The Workshop is for youth
who are interested in learning more about in-depth character and script
analysis techniques as well as vocal and dance warm up techniques and
styles. Through the guidance of two musical theater professionals,
young students will have the opportunity to perform vaudeville skits and
songs in the lobby of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center before the show or during
intermission of OWC’s summer musical production of “Gypsy” on July
9-12, 7:30pm. Registration for the four week non-credit workshop is
$300. Interested students should register for course number XKD
3200B/Ref# 57474 now at any OWC campus or center. Contact the OWC

Summer Drama Program, Creative Dramatics, Ages 13-College - June
9-26. Participants will learn about choreography, acting, voice,
makeup and staging and will star in a production of “Fiddler on the Roof
Jr.” in the Sprint Theater of the OWC Mattie Kelly Fine and Performing
Arts Center. This special edition is one of Broadway's great masterpieces
and is ideal for encouraging young people to think about their roots, as
well as to deal with the important issues of community, tradition, tolerance
and faith. Enrollment for Creative Dramatics is open now through June
9 at any OWC location. No prior experience in theater is required and
eligible high school and college students may earn college credit. The final
production of the workshop participants, “Fiddler on the Roof Jr.” will
be performed Thursday, June 26 at the Sprint Theater at the Mattie Kelly
Arts Center. The performance is open to the public and free of charge.
Those interested in Creative Dramatics should enroll in OWC course numbers
DAA1580-55261 (Musical Theater Dance I) and THE2820-55605 (Creative
Dramatics). The regular fee for enrollment is $252. High school students may
be eligible to take the Creative Dramatics class free of charge through dual

on Top Annual
Summit
for Heroes Memorial Climb - 10:00am. Lakewood

Walton
County
, is the highest point in
Florida
, 25 miles north of DeFuniak Springs on Highway 331 North, and is 345 feet
above sea level. This is in honor of fallen officers killed in the
line of duty. The goal is to get as many law enforcement professionals
reaching their states high point on the same day. Participants
should wear comfortable clothing and shoes, because although the climb is
not very challenging, the weather will be warm and humid. Refreshments
will be served by Crime Stoppers of Walton County, Inc.
