Once on scene Investigators discovered this was a hit-and-run crash where all three pedestrians were struck resulting in one death and two serious bodily injuries.
Witnesses stated that a Ford Pickup truck was drifting back and forth in the lane, before exiting onto the west shoulder in Bay County. The truck struck the three pedestrians. Witnesses stated the dark pickup fled the scene, leaving the victims in the ditch. The pedestrians consisted of a mother walking with her two children when this crash occurred. The FHP says 33-year-old Jennifer L. Whitehead died at the scene of the crash and was pronounced by medical personnel. The two children were taken to area medical facilities for treatment.
Investigators processed the scene and developed leads that would take them to the location of the vehicle involved in the crash, a 1993 Chevrolet 1500, silver pick-up truck. At 5:40 a.m. March 26, investigators were able to locate the driver; 28-year-old Patrick Andrew Henninger. Henninger was taken into custody at an address located on Copenhagen Drive and booked into the Bay County Jail for one count of “Leaving the Scene with Death”. Alcohol is related.
