Benedict Carter Messina

Mr. Benedict Carter Messina, age 77, passed away Monday, August 5, 2019. He was born on September 18, 1941 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Benedict and Alice Simmons Messina.

Mr. Messina was a resident of Freeport, Florida. He was Episcopal by faith and a member of  Christ the King Episcopal Church in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida. He was a veteran of the Vietnam Era serving his country in the United States Army, as Supply Sergeant, having receiving expert rifle accommodations. He graduated from the University of Alabama, receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing. He enjoyed hunting, boating, and especially enjoyed Men’s Bible Study.

Mr.  Messina was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Messina is survived by his loving wife of 19 years, Carol B. Head-Messina; son, Chadwick Carter Messina and wife Brooke; step-son, Paul Head and wife Leigh Anne; daughter, Deanne Gilchrist and husband Chris; step-daughter, Rhonda Calvert and husband Gary; brothers, Daryl Messina and Errol Messina and wife Barbara;  and grandchildren, Carolina Barrett, Payton Barrett, Ryanne Head, John Paul Head and Chance Stephenson.

Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 8, 2019 at Christ the King Episcopal Church; 480 North County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459, with Reverend Richard Proctor officiating.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, August 9, 2019 at Alabama National Cemetery; 3133 Highway 119, Montevallo, Alabama 35115, with Military Honors by the United States Army.

Flowers are being accepted or donations may be made to the Christ the King Episcopal Church Men’s Bible Study; 480 North County Highway 393, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida 32459.
