Dog Attack Leads to Search Warrant, Which Leads to Saving Over 40 Dogs

It started with a dog bite investigation and ended with 40 dog rescues. Last Thursday Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the area of Girl Scout Rd in reference to four dogs that attacked a man and caused injuries. The dogs responsible for the attack and their owner were located on Orange Avenue in Oakwood Hills. Further investigation revealed there were multiple dogs at the location living in unsuitable conditions.

A search warrant was executed at the residence/property occupied by Jessica Calvert and Geraldine Pearce. Approximately 40 dogs were seized including the four that attacked the man. The animals were living in unsanitary conditions due to structure, feces and garbage. There were several bones of dogs located on the property as well.

The investigation is still ongoing and future charges are expected.
