FIRE ON EAST SLOSS AVENUE

Monday, November 13th, at 4:20 a.m., DeFuniak Springs Fire Department responded to a residence fire on East Sloss Avenue.  The single-story residence was fully involved.  Heavy fire and smoke could be seen emerging from the residence.  The residence adjacent received damage to the exterior from the fire and smoke.  Firefighters prevented any further damage at the adjacent residence and extinguished the fire at the original residence shortly after responding to the scene.  Only one person, the homeowner, was inside at the time of the fire and exited the residence with no injuries.   DeFuniak Springs Fire Department, Argyle Volunteer Fire Department, Liberty Volunteer Fire Department, and Walton County Fire Rescue responded to the scene.   The fire is believed to be accidental, the State Fire Marshal’s Office is conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the fire.
