FORMER JACKSON COUNTY DEPUTY INVESTIGATION HANDED OVER TO 1ST JUDICIAL CIRCUIT

In Jackson County, the case involving the former sheriff’s deputy, Zachary Wester, has been handed over to Pensacola State Attorney, Bill Eddins. Assistant State Attorney for the 14th judicial circuit, Larry Basford said the investigation into Wester was handed over to the First Judicial Circuit to help the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigate the case. In September, it was alleged that the former deputy was planting drugs on people during traffic stops. Larry Basford said there was a conflict of interest in the case as Wester’s father once worked for the state attorney’s office.
