Mrs. Irene Bailey Giacalone, age 96, passed away November 22, 2018. She was born on March 8, 1922, in Hardy, Arkansas to Joseph Bailey and Clarissa Taylor Bailey.
Mrs. Giacalone was a resident of DeFuniak Springs, Florida. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She worked as an Accounts Payable Clerk for NASA. She also worked for the Social Security Administration. She loved gardening, crocheting, estate sales, painting, and was very talented at crafts.
Mrs. Giacalone was preceded in death by her father and mother; her sister, Loraine Massad; and her husband, Bartholomew Giacalone.
Mrs. Giacalone is survived by her son, Sidney E. Newton and wife Rhodora of DeFuniak Springs; her daughter, Joetta Hawley of DeFuniak Springs; her niece, Delena Arwine of Oklahoma; her nephew, Phillip Michael Massad of Oklahoma; six grandchildren; Amy, Cynthia, Etal, Sienna Newton, Kristin and Janae Hawley, 15 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held from 1:30-2:30 PM, Friday, November 30, 2018 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel; 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, FL 32435.
Graveside services will be held at 3:00 PM, Friday, November 30, 2018 at Magnolia Cemetery.
