IRIS JACKIE CAULEY JACKSON 1928-2019

Iris Jackie Cauley Jackson (Irisy), age 90, of Freeport, Florida passed from this life peacefully and surrounded by family on January 17, 2019.

Iris was the daughter of Jessie and Mark Windol Cauley. On November 24, 1945, she married Evans Herman Jackson of Freeport where they made their home. Together they had five sons and a daughter and owned several local businesses including a café, service station, and repair shop. As a mother of six children, Iris continued her education and received her Associate degree. Many in the community knew and treasured “Mrs. Jackson” from her many years working in the Freeport school system.

Iris was talented at crochet, enjoyed a good yard sale, and was always up for a road trip and a Coca-Cola. All who knew her can attest to Iris’s selflessness, generosity, and deep devotion to her large, close-knit family.

Left to honor and remember her love are Iris’s sons Mike (Jean) Jackson, Windol Jackson, Wade (Hilda) Jackson, Lewis (Beth) Jackson, and honorary son Aubrey Stanley; grandchildren Wendi (Mike) Christner, Jennifer Fletcher, Jennifer (Erick) Dickens, Malacie Flemming, Kayci Rushing, Jodi (Frank) Araneo, Sarah Jackson, Matthew (Calla) Jackson, Ryan (Brezy) Rushing, Anne Turner, Brooke Jackson, Shelley Carroll, Taylor (Heather) Jackson, Zach Jackson, Julianne (Chad) Marse, Gregory Jackson, and Madelyn Jackson; great-grandchildren Olivia Lavelle, Evan Christner, Makaydi Araneo, Gaige Nixon, Landon Flemming, Braydon Carroll, Morgan Rushing, Jackson Flemming, Claire Dickens, Sydney Nixon, Anney-Kate Araneo, Teghan Araneo, Hoyt Rushing, Tristan Miller, Preslee Miller, Haas Turner, Grant Dickens, Carter Carroll, Maxwell Brogniez, Vera Marse, Bricen Araneo, Lillyana Brogniez, Eliza Marse, Bryce Jackson; great-great grandchild Graham Dixon; sisters Betty Buchanon and Peggy Pate; best friend Elizabeth “Blackie” Bishop, and many nieces, nephews and loved ones.

Iris is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Marie Davidson and Sylvia Cauley, brother Windol L. Cauley, her husband of 55 years Evans Herman Jackson, daughter Penny Jackson (Kenny) Rushing, and son Jackie R. (Drucilla) Jackson.

The family will welcome friends for the viewing from 6:00-8:00pm, Sunday, January 20, 2019 at Clary-Glenn Freeport Chapel Funeral Home, 150 Highway 20 East, Freeport, Florida 32439.

Funeral services will be at Black Creek United Methodist Church, 102 Memorial Lane, Freeport, Florida 32439 on Monday, January 21, 2019 at 2:00pm with Dr. Charles Satterwhite and Reverend Don McManus officiating.

The family would like to especially thank Iris’s nephew Ray Jackson for his thoughtfulness and time spent by her side, the staff of The Manor at Blue Water Bay for the care given to Iris during her stay, the compassionate nursing staff at Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville, and Emerald Coast Hospice.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Ryan Rushing, Taylor Jackson, Zach Jackson, Frank Araneo, Chad Marse, and Ricky Davidson.

Flowers are being accepted.

Burial will follow in Black Creek Cemetery.
