JoAnn Hicks Skipper, 83 of Ponce De Leon, went to her heavenly home on January 14, 2019.  She was born December 4, 1935 in Foley, Florida to Joe Dee and Lyndal Rhodes Hicks.

She attended Ponce De Leon High School and Okaloosa Walton Junior College in Niceville, Florida.

Mrs. Skipper was a member of Otter Creek Methodist Church her entire life.  Ministry work started early in her life through music.  She began playing the piano at the age of 8 and was the church pianist for 65 years.  She taught piano lessons to children and grownups alike for many years.  She was an inspiration to many and was devoted to helping people in need anyway she could.

Mrs. Skipper was preceded in death by her parents.  She is survived by her daughter Debbie Bearden, her son Kenny Thomas and wife Lisa, son Randall Skipper and wife Marcy, daughters Faye Skipper McBroom and Susie Coursey all of Ponce De Leon.  Her brother, David Hicks and wife Nora Mae, sisters Kathy Hicks and Janet Riddle of Ponce De Leon and sister Mary Hermann and husband Tom of Marianna and sister Ada Brown of Bonifay.  She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Covenant Hospice for the care that they provided and a special thank you to nurse Adrianna Lawson for administering that care with much love and compassion.

A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 ~ 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Clary-Glenn Funeral Home Chapel, 230 Park Avenue, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Otter Creek United Methodist Church, 1492 Jack Johnson Lane, Ponce De Leon, Florida 32455 with Chaplain Gina Bowden officiating and Eulogy by Tommy Hicks.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Bryce Thomas Sr., Bryce Thomas Jr., Jack Haltom, Jacob Haltom, Clinton Moore, Zach Skipper, JB Yates, Tony Beck, and Bob Arban.

Flowers are being accepted.

Burial will follow in Otter Creek Cemetery.
