A juvenile is in custody and is believed to be the main suspect in a Jackson County murder. Two weeks ago, Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a home on Shack Circle, just outside of Marianna. Investigators found Patricia Shack, 65, dead in her home. Investigators say she was shot in the head. Tuesday, investigators announced they arrested a family member in connection to Shack’s death. The suspect was arrested late Monday afternoon. Investigators did confirm the suspect is a male and a juvenile, but have not released his name. During a press conference, Sheriff Louis Roberts III said, “The reason is, this person is a very young juvenile and at this point we are not able to release any names and/or specific age of this individual.” The suspect was staying in Leon County. He is being held at the Leon County Department of Juvenile Justice Detention System. He will make a first appearance in Leon County Tuesday. He is charged with an open count of first-degree murder. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement helped in the investigation. Due to its testing, the FDLE was able to say the bullet that killed Shack was from a gun found in the home. Investigators say they also noticed some discrepancies in the 911 call. As of now, the motive is still unknown. Investigators believe the suspect and Shack were the only two people home at the time of the shooting. Jackson County Sheriff’s officials say Justin Shack Jr., 14, is facing an open count of murder after an investigation into the March 5 shooting of a family member.
