The Florida Lottery says 64-year-old Carolyn Bell, of Montgomery, Alabama, claimed the $48 million FLORIDA LOTTO® jackpot from the drawing held on November 19, 2014. Bell chose to receive her winnings as a one-time, lump-sum payment of $32,609,501.60.
Florida Lottery says that Bell is a loyal FLORIDA LOTTO player and plays her lucky numbers every time she visits Florida. Bell says she plays with the hopes of winning, but never think it is actually going to happen. All she could say was ‘Wow!’ when she realized her numbers were finally chosen. She and her husband have decided to officially retire, but have no plans of changing their current lifestyle.
Bell purchased her jackpot-winning ticket at Stateline Liquors, located at 1065 Highway 179 A in Westville. The retailer received a bonus commission of $210,000 for selling the jackpot-winning FLORIDA LOTTO ticket. Total ticket sales for this jackpot generated more than $46 million for Florida’s students and schools.
