An Escambia County man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a bat a dollar store. According to Escambia County Sheriff’s Office (ECSO) deputies responded to a disturbance at the Family Dollar located 120 Chief’s Way in Pensacola on Tuesday. The sheriff’s office says, 31-year-old Derrick Harris was inside the dollar store with his girlfriend when the altercation occurred among the couple. ECSO said that Harris struck his girlfriend and witnesses intervened to stop Harris from hitting the woman. After other people got involved to help the victim, Harris briefly left the store and returned with a baseball bat, says ECSO Major Andrew Hobbs. According to ECSO, Harris struck his girlfriend and others within the store with the bat and fled to a nearby apartment complex. Harris was into custody and transported to Escambia County Jail.
