A $33 million investment bringing up to 100 jobs is coming to Panama City Beach with new upscale living for senior citizens. The groundbreaking has begun for giving the city its newest senior living home which many of its builders are calling a modern-day facility. With the help of the city chamber of commerce and construction, the first outline of the Blake at Panama City Beach Senior Resort is underway. “Our residents love activities so they want to be close to restaurants and shopping,” Co-founder Glen Barclay said. “There’s a lot of new restaurants and shopping along this corridor.” Though senior living homes are not uncommon at the beach, the builders say this will be like no other with the services they offer. “We have a coffee shop that is full service just like going into a Starbucks with a barista,” Barclay continued. “We have a bar and lounge, we have five-star dining, we have a theatre upstairs, we have huge courtyards with apartments that have balconies and porches.” Following Michael, city officials are now looking forward to seeing growth back in their city and this project is a big boost. “People they want to come here, they want to retire here and they want to stay here,” Chamber of Commerce President Kristopher McLane said. “When you have a modern facility coming into Panama City Beach, it just has all the bells and whistles that you need.” Though despite the beach location and many services, the company still plans to have competitive prices and be economic friendly. “Entry level is around $4,000 for an apartment,” Barclay told us. “And that varies, we have customized care and customized packages so our residents can choose the type of apartment, the size of the apartment, the immunities that they want to go with them and the. Also the type of care and services that they want to see.”According to the building group Blake Management, the construction is already ahead of schedule. They expect to have the project complete between the summer and fall of 2020.
