As the Panhandle grows and more tourist visit the area, the amount of volume contributes to the constant wear and tear on bridges and roads. Because of that, last Tuesday, Walton County Commissioners voted to renew a 9th cent and Local Option Fuel Tax. The tax has been in place for the past 10 years and will not increase. Money generated from the tax is designated exclusively for transportation expenditures, such as maintenance, paving, equipment, and bridges.
