The wife of Pensacola Police Chief Tommi Lyter has been charged with “keying” a vehicle at a popular downtown restaurant. Brenda Lyter, 47, was charged with one felony count of criminal mischief. She was released on bond from the Escambia County Jail. Investigators say Brenda Lyter intentionally damaged the paint on a vehicle which was parked at the Fish House on Barracks St. last Thursday. The victim told police that “Brenda Lyter has a history of animosity towards her and she believes that Brenda Lyter had ‘keyed’ her vehicle,” an arrest report states. A witness told police that he saw Lyter drive into the restaurant parking lot in a golf cart, walk past several vehicles before scratching one of them with a key before she walked inside the restaurant. A witness provided photographs of the golf cart’s tags, and the witness identified Lyter from a photo lineup. Video surveillance from the Fish House does not show the incident, but does show Lyter entering the restaurant’s reception area. Damage was estimated at over $2,000.
